Catskill Rail Adventure

ILLUSTRATION

The Catskill Mountains have always been a year-round destination for vacationers. More than 150 years ago, the first railroads opened up a direct route from New York City to the mountains, creating the modern tourism industry.

Three tourist railroads operating in the Catskill Mountains partnered together on a possible joint marketing plan to bolster ridership across the surviving segments of railroad. These illustrations were developed for a proposed “Catskill Rail Pass” program in cooperation with the Catskill Mountain Railroad and the Delaware & Ulster Railroad. The drawings were meant to evoke the golden age of rail travel, and depicts three of the trains availble to ride.
