DESIGN
What do you do with a business journal that demands a high-quality product on a shoestring budget? You get creative. Westchester Commerce was the official newsmagazine of the Business Council of Westchester. A small budget means there’s not a lot left over for fancy photo shoots and art buys. If I needed a photo, often times I’d shoot it myself. If I needed a unique and interesting cover to nail a financial concept, I would draw it myself. Since we didn’t have much budget for stock art, I had to get creative with typography and my own occasional spot illustrations. I rescued the outdated layout and upgraded the product. Advertising and circulation increased as a result. Good design is good business!
